Brookline Baseball & Softball is happy to announce its plans to field travel softball teams in 2019 at both the 10-and-under and 12-and-under levels (a girl's "softball age" in 2019 is her age as of December 31, 2018) in the DelVal Youth Softball League. This will be Brookline's eleventh year fielding travel softball teams. Blazers team schedules run concurrently with Brookline's in-house softball program, and all girls playing for the Blazers or little Blazers are required to play in Brookline's "in-house" softball league.
The DelVal League has been offering competitive softball playing opportunities for girls for several decades. Teams from Drexel Hill, Ridley Park, Brandywine, Glenolden, Aston, Media, Newtown Square, Springfield, and many other Delaware County communities participate in this league.
Blazers Coaches will expect and require a solid commitment to the team by each player. There will be pre-season and in-season practices. The DelVal league schedule begins in mid-April and continues through mid-June, with playoffs in late June and two tournaments in July. There are usually one or two games per week. Home games will be played at Genthert Field or on Police A Field. Practices will be held wherever space is available. There will be a player fee, in addition to the Brookline playing fee, to cover the cost of uniforms, umpires, league fees and equipment.
Questions or comments can be directed to Brookline's Vice President of Softball, Doug MacLaughlin.
